Chapter 1 

One day ,on 28th august 1975, a girl named Sami took birth in Afghani Pathan family of Rampur(U.P), her father Gucchhan(Yunus Khan) was a tailor and had a shop at corner of his street in Mohalla Ghair Hasan Khan. He had six born children out of them his elder son Nadeem and another middle one daughter got died, then Gucchhan had left only four children-Sami, Chaman, Bhuri and Munna.Sami eldest and Munna was his youngest child.

Sami had three ‘chacha’ – Munan,Sajjan,Bacchan and one ‘Phuppi’ –Mohd Nisa.Her father was the third son of Mahmood Khan. Sami heard tails of her family background by her father,then she came to know that her grandfather Mahmood came India before Independence with his sibblings from Afghanistan and here, after many harsh days, he owned fourty ‘Sarai’ ,a ‘Baghia’ and a large house.In short he was the richest man of his society at that time, not only this, he married his one sister in Pakistan and one in Gujrat.Such tails were like fairy tales for Sami. She also came to know about her maternal connection with a Bollywood guy –‘Razamurad’ , Indian  militant-‘Nana’ ,’Hakim Dhoomi Khan’ and about her mother’s uncle, who was in Pakistani Army. Sami’s Indian militant ‘Nana’  used to come to meet them in every Friday,then Sami’s whole family invited for ‘Dawat’ at the ‘Nana’s’ house. Sami loved her ‘Nana’ very much, also he brought many gifts for her and the whole family.

Sami and Chaman went to their Phuppi’s house to recite ’Sipara’ and had a closed bound with her, they called her Phuppare. Phuppare ready to give them new lesson only after they help in her household work, though Chaman refused to do so but Sami was a kind heartened she was ready to help everyone. Chaman was smart and had friendly nature, she knew how she could accomplished her work by others. Sami was a sweet guy but very sensitive about her family member, whenever someone making fun of her mother’s plum figure, she annoyed and the person had to face her fury. One afternoon Munna went to Sajjan’s house, there everyone  were sleeping Munna plucked a rose from Sajjan’s ‘Kyari’,  but suddenly Sajjan came there and caught Munna red-handed and then he tied Munna’s hands with a rope and began to beat him with a ‘hunter’ when Sami came to know about the incident she couldn’t control over herself ,she went to Sajjan’s house drag him away from Munna and said,’’for these flowers you beat my brother’’, Sami destroyed the ‘Kyari’ and her hands were blooded due to thorn of bushes of the roses.

In afternoon when Sami’s mother went to sleep she used to play with her cousin brother and some girlfriends, games like-‘Gudde-Gurhia ki shaadi’,’Kanche’,’Cricket’,’Plucking fruits from the tree’ ,’Gilli-Danda‘ and many more. In a night when there was short-circuit Sami climbed over a tree wore a ‘Burkha’ and a had a face pack of uncooked circular piece of ‘Roti’ over her face there was only moonlight and Sami over the tree with ghosty outlook, then she saw her uncle-‘Mekfooz’ performing sussu at the ‘Nali’ of the street of his house, and then Sami said,”Are, Kya kar raha hai re tu? Oooohooo!” ,at this moment Mehfooz was no longer remain ,’Mehfooz’, he terrified and tried to move into his house at any cost with his untied ‘Pyajama’.
